Double hinged expansion joint consists of two single hinged expansion joints connected with intermediate pipe with double hinge restraints to absorb pressure thrust, axial force due to the effect of pressure. Therefore, any expansion of the center pipe within the limits of the hinge bar will simply compress the bellows, and will not exert movement on the adjoining pipe. Application of this expansion joint is for compensating large lateral movement.
